We cannot fulfill our corporate social responsibility activities effectively as a single isolated firm, and so we are expected to develop CSR activities across our entire supply chain. Mitsubishi Corporation RtM Japan Ltd. pursues socially responsible corporate management. As a general trading company engaged in the metals and minerals resources business, we seek to communicate fully with our business partners and promote CSR activities when conducting business across the supply chain. Society demands no less of us, and we also feel it is a vital part of our corporate responsibility. Based on that conviction, we compiled the Mitsubishi Corporation RtM Supply Chain CSR Guidelines to help guide our procurement policy. We ask all our business partners to understand and accept our CSR procurement policy, and, in the spirit of mutual trust and prosperity, to join our collaborative pursuit of social responsibility as a constituent member of a comprehensive supply chain. We are asking all product suppliers to fill out the Mitsubishi Corporate RtM CSR Survey in Japanese, English, or Chinese. We may inquire about your responses submitted to us and make proposals for potential improvements to our supply-chain CSR activities. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated. Previously, we asked 74 of our business partners in fiscal 2017, and 35 in fiscal 2018, to submit survey responses. We followed up individually and cooperatively made improvements with partners whose responses raised concerns about themes we regard as particularly important such as human rights, the environment, fair trade, and prevention of corruption. Going forward, our company will continue to conduct surveys of applicable business partners, and utilize the submitted inspection results to further promote CSR in our supply chain. Forbid discrimination Eradicate employment discrimination, ensure equal opportunities and fair treatment in the workplace. Forbid inhumane treatment Respect employees' human rights, forbid all oppressive and inhumane treatment including abuse and all forms of harassment. Ensure appropriate working hours Manage employee's working hours, rest days, and holidays appropriately. Offer fair and appropriate remuneration Pay employees at least the minimum legal wage, refrain from reducing remuneration unjustly. Green Procurement Policy Mitsubishi Corporation RtM strives to procure products made in factories that have adopted advanced environmental protection measures, and products that have a milder impact on the environment. Mitsubishi Corporation RtM recognizes its mission as a trading company involves fully grasping the green procurement policies of business customers, and then obtaining and conveying accurate information about chemical substances contained in any products we provide. Through these procurement activities, we hope to contribute to environmental protection on a global scale as well as encouraging business customers to better control chemicals in products and effectively manage the supply chain. As a trading company positioned in the middle of the supply chain, it is important for Mitsubishi Corporation RtM to fully understand the green procurement policies of its business customers and act in accordance with those policies. The green procurement policies of each customer will differ depending on the country or business category. We have a responsibility to explain to our suppliers all necessary considerations relating to business transactions, and we ask for their understanding and cooperation regarding these procedures. Mitsubishi Corporation RtM asks all product suppliers to fill in its Survey on the Management of Chemicals in Products. In fiscal 2018, survey responses were received from 25 suppliers. We will check the management systems of some suppliers individually, and take steps cooperatively make improvements, so we would appreciate your support. Going forward, we plan to continue conducting surveys, and would like to request the continuing support of all our suppliers. If deemed necessary, we may also ask suppliers to submit a guarantee of non-use of chemicals in products, input data into the system we specify for managing chemicals in products, or undergo an audit of environmental quality assurance systems conducted by our customers. Mitsubishi Corporation RtM aims to use its green procurement initiatives to respond and contribute not only to the solid management of chemicals in products, but also to the building of a recycling-oriented society, the prevention of global warming, and the promotion of the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).
