The Center for Liberal Arts provides the Meiji Gakuin University Core Curriculum that any student, regardless of their faculty, or department, can take between their first and fourth years. The education goal of the MGU Core Curriculum is to cultivate people who can live in harmony with others and tackle the issues that arise around the globe flexibly and sincerely, based on our founding principle of “moral education based on Christianity.” We promote a comprehensive education based on Interdisciplinary Education, designed to foster students’ abilities to comprehend, analyze, and consider world issues from multiple angles, and Foreign Language Education to give students a mastery of foreign languages, which are vital communication tools in a global society. Interdisciplinary Education emphasizes experiencing actual issues face to face, offering numerous classes in experiential and experimental learning courses. Foreign Language Education emphasizes oral literacy, and we also offer courses on languages’ cultural and historical backgrounds. In addition to English language, we offer classes in French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Korean as well as Thai, Italian, and Arabic. Students can enhance there leraning by focusing their study on one of the four themes: Sutainability, Asian Studies, Volunteer Studies, and Multiculturalism.
